A plus-size yogini, Michelle enjoys practicing and teaching yoga in the Chicago metro area in addition to working as a marketing communications freelance writer and editor. She completed her hatha yoga teacher training at the 200-hour level (YT 200) in January 2011 through Global Yoga and Wellness Center, Inc., in Chicago, a Yoga Alliance®-registered school, under the direction of Rhonda Kantor. Her comprehensive teacher training covered: techniques, teaching and methodology, anatomy and physiology, philosophy and ethics, practicum and electives in prenatal and vinyasa yoga.
She also earned her certification to teach HeavyWeight Yoga®, specifically designed for overweight and obese students, upon completion of the instructor intensive program in September 2013 with founder Abby Lentz, Heartfelt Yoga, Austin, Texas.
Michelle’s yogic journey began in 2008. Her career as a freelance writer and editor, sitting at a computer, and workaholic tendency contributed to a sedentary lifestyle. Striving for a healthier work-life balance, she tried yoga. Thanks to the gracious encouragement of her teachers, her passion for practicing yoga grew beyond her expectations. Enjoying greater balance in body, mind and spirit, she felt inspired to share the gift of yoga through teaching others.
